Do I need a GP referral?
Self-pay patients can usually enquire directly with the private secretary. If you are insured, your insurer may require a GP referral and pre-authorisation, so check your policy before booking.
Where do private consultations take place?
Mr Omakobia's public private-practice profiles list Spencer Private Hospitals Ashford, within the William Harvey Hospital site in Ashford, Kent.
How much is a consultation?
The currently published fee is £250 for a first consultation and £150 for follow-up. Investigation, procedure, anaesthetic and hospital charges are separate. Fees should be reconfirmed before booking.
Which insurers are listed?
Doctify currently lists Allianz Worldwide Care, Aviva Health, WPA, Vitality, AXA Health, Bupa and Bupa Fee Assured. Mr Omakobia has also confirmed recognition by Healix Health Insurance as of 2 September 2026. Bupa Finder also lists him as Fee Assured and in the Open Referral network. Cover depends on your individual policy and authorisation.
What should I bring to a consultation?
Bring your medication list, details of previous ENT surgery, relevant letters or test results, and any CT/MRI imaging reports or image access details if you have them. Insured patients should also bring their insurer authorisation details.
Will I need a nasal endoscopy?
For many nose and sinus problems, nasal endoscopy provides useful information and may be recommended. Whether it is required depends on the clinical question and is discussed during the appointment.
Does sinus surgery cure sinusitis permanently?
Not necessarily. In chronic inflammatory sinus disease, surgery aims to improve ventilation, drainage and access for topical treatment. Ongoing medical treatment may still be needed, and some disease can recur.
What is the difference between septoplasty and septorhinoplasty?
Septoplasty primarily addresses the internal septum. Septorhinoplasty also changes or supports parts of the external nasal framework and may be required when obstruction involves the nasal valves or external deviation.
Can I discuss both breathing and appearance at a rhinoplasty consultation?
Yes. Nasal function and appearance are closely related, and both should be considered when planning structural nasal surgery.
Does Mr Omakobia see children?
Yes. His public practice profile includes paediatric ENT and procedures such as tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, grommet insertion, nasal cautery and tongue-tie division.
Does Mr Omakobia perform surgery for watery eyes?
Yes. For selected patients with tear drainage obstruction, Mr Omakobia undertakes endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) surgery jointly with Consultant Ophthalmologist and Oculoplastic/Orbital Surgeon Mr Mike Mota. Ophthalmic assessment is important because not every watery eye is caused by a blocked tear duct.
