Nasal plastic surgery

Rhinoplasty

Specialist nasal plastic surgery assessment with attention to facial proportion, nasal function, individual goals and realistic limitations.

Rhinoplasty consultation

Rhinoplasty changes the shape or proportions of the nose. Some patients also have functional concerns such as obstruction, previous trauma or structural weakness, while others are primarily seeking a change in appearance.

A careful, proportionate approach

A useful consultation explores what concerns you, which changes are realistically achievable, how proposed changes fit the rest of the face and whether nasal function could be affected. The aim should be an individual plan rather than a one-size-fits-all nose.

Open or closed surgery

Both open and closed approaches can be used in rhinoplasty. The most appropriate approach depends on the changes required, previous operations, anatomy and surgeon judgement.

Recovery and limitations

Bruising and swelling are common in the early recovery period. Subtle swelling, particularly at the tip, can take much longer to settle. Final assessment therefore takes time. No surgeon can guarantee a particular cosmetic result, and revision surgery is sometimes required.

Important: A rhinoplasty decision should follow an unhurried consultation with realistic expectations and informed consent. If the principal concern is appearance rather than health, surgery remains elective.

When breathing and appearance overlap

If external nasal shape contributes to airway obstruction, the appropriate procedure may be a functional septorhinoplasty rather than a cosmetic rhinoplasty alone.
